Wine Recommendation – Dom Pérignon Champagne 1996

Wine Recommendation – Dom Pérignon Champagne 1996

Wine Recommendation for November 2005

Dom Pérignon is the prestige cuvée of the giant Moët & Chandon champagne house. From Royal tables to Michelin star restaurants, Dom Pérignon Champagne has always been enjoyed by the most richest and exclusive places around the world.

As of today we are offerings 12 bottle cases of Dom Perignon champagne at the discounted price of £655 per case, which works out at just £54 per bottle. As far as we can see this is the cheapest price on the market currently!

Our research team have voted Dom Pérignon Champagne as one of our top investments for 2005! This is because top champagne producer Moët & Chandon announced that they’re going to be selling fifteen hectares of vineyards in a bid to acquire more plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, moving from Aisne to Marne. Both of these widely-known varieties are used in the champagne house’s top cuvée, Dom Pérignon. A spokesman for Moët stated that “by buying in the Marne, we can increase our production of Dom Pérignon, thus enhancing the status of the [champagne] house.”

The Markets Opinion of Dom Perignon 1996

Expert Steve Tanzer has given this champagne 94 points out of a possible 100 with a professional review conducted in the Connoisseurs’ Guide to Wines tasted in November 2004. Quote from Steve Tanzers tasting notes as follows:

“Vibrant, layered and rich all at the same time, this very fine Champagne is expansive in its aromas and deep yet refined on the palate. Its overall character tends a bit toward the Chardonnay end of the spectrum both in its lemony and minerally character as well as in its terrific balance and finesse on the palate. Its complex flavors go on and on, and the wine will do the same in bottle.”

Our team anticipates a growth of 12-15% on this wonderful vintage Champagne over the next twelve months. This champagne however due to its exclusive year, could appreciate further profits based on the response of the 1998 vintage this forthcoming year. Suppliers are pushing clients to buy 1998 as 1996 is harder to find, this means the success of 1998 will only add to the value of the 1996 vintage.

This is a great champagne to drink now and in several years. Although this is possibly a shorter term holding than our usual recommendations, we recommend the three years term holding period to hopefully see a significant amount of increase in investment.
