Wine Recommendation – Château Haut Brion 2000
We have some exciting news to share with you! We have just managed to secure parcels of an exclusive wine from the region of Pessac in Graves, Bordeaux. The wine is Château Haut Brion and it is one of the oldest wines in the highly acclaimed 1855 Classification.
As I am sure you are aware, Haut Brion is not only the first-growth to be American owned but it is Bordeaux’s first internationally acclaimed winemaking estate.
The vintage is 2000 and the wine has been in bond since being bottled from Château. Still stored in the original wooden cases with all labeling in tact, we’re selling each case of twelve bottles for less than the market value at £2640.

The wine has had a fantastic history of tasting notes already! In September 2003 at a wine tasting event held at the Château the following notes were made:
‘The Château Haut Brion 2000 has a delectable nose which is both complex and minerally. More backward and broody than La Mission. The palate has incredible purity with notes of cedar and raspberry. Out of all the Firsts this displays the best balance. Very concentrated, very elegant smooth and focussed.’
‘Beautiful colour, very deep with a mixing of the Haut Brion ruby and its violet shade of youth. Swishing the wine around in the glass give a notion of the density. This complexity is followed up in the aromas that suddenly burst forth, all at once; a woody hint of fine polished oak, mulberry jam, cherry pits, a touch of blackcurrant and the bittersweet of mango.. Exceptional bottle.’
The Market
‘To be drunk today, tomorrow and surely 100 years from now.’ Those tasting notes are from when the Haut Brion was tasted at the Château in November 2002. Our recommendation is you can open the bottle from now. This mean investment on this wine can be seen anywhere from the next twelve months.
A single bottle of Haut Brion 1959 vintage was auctioned and sold for £3500 in January 2002. This shows the appreciation possible with this type of growth. Our buyers are envisaging at least 16% growth per annum. The longer you can keep onto the wine, the more your investment will benefit.
