Chateauneuf du Pape Wine Janasse Vielles Vignes 2012 BUY NOW Recommendation.

Chateauneuf du Pape Wine Janasse Vielles Vignes 2012 BUY NOW Recommendation.

Dear Friends,

I have some great news, we negotiated a superb parcel of wine from the Rhone Valley.

This is a Chateauneuf du Pape wine. Its from ‘Domaine du Janasse’ which is one of the most exclusive vineyards in Chateauneuf du Pape. This is a 2012 vintage.

Let me give you the exact name of this wine because when you look online you will notice a few descriptions of what looks like the same wine. Look for Chateauneuf du pape Janasse and select the wine with the description “Vieilles Vignes” (It means old Vines).

We have recommended Janasse before in a number of vintages and it is a good solid performing and reliable investment wine.

The vintage of this Janasse, Vieilles Vignes, is a very exclusive vintage. The stock is brand new and coming from the Chateau. We are keeping it in London.

The Chateau only produce 850 cases a year of this Janasse V V which is nothing when you think how Chateau Lafite produce 10-15,000 cases of each vintage every year. It was really difficult to find a parcel at this price I am recommending to you.

Robert Parker has given it a very good rating of 95-98 Points, BUT – His last tasting notes, he mentioned this is most likely one of the top 2-3 wines produced. He has rated 6 Janasse VV vintages in the last 10 years with 98 points or higher. if he considers this 2012 to be one of the top 2-3 wines produced then there’s a strong chance that he is going to give this wine either 98 points or higher when he does his official tasting for in bottle scoring. Remember this 2012 has not been in the bottle very long so there are few tastings on it thus far.

The 2005 vintage is rated with 98 points – priced today at 850 pounds for 12 bottles. I can offer you this 2012 vintage for 535 Pounds for 12 bottles. That makes this 2012 nearly 60% cheaper. If Parker gives it a 98 point rating in the next few years then the price should jump. In fact its possible you might see it priced the same as the 2005 vintage in 3 years from now which would net you a tidy gain of 60%.

This is a small risk on the ratings improving over the short term but nevertheless over the long term it has the potential to do very well based on the growth of the Rhone Valley market currently and the exposure that Janasse is gaining in the market. The downside? Well the same wine, vintage 2000 has 96 points from Parker – Currently Liv ex market price is 935/case, hence we should still see some appreciation if you hold it for several years. On the upside if the critics review it and increase the ratings, it could triple in value within 5 years.

Over the next 3 years we anticipate this wine to appreciate 10% per year at the low end however, if the ratings improve it could catch up the price of the Vintage 2005 which would equate to a 60% return. Given the growing interest in Rhone Valley wines at the moment prices could move a lot quicker.

The Chateau recommend you can drink this wine when it is aged between 20-50 years so keeping it as a long term investment is no problem. As it’s quality improves with age, those 850 cases will diminish over time. Parker says it will thrill for upwards of 2 decades. Such a high quality wine is hard to posses at such a low entry level.

The minimum purchase is 2 cases. Price – 535 Pounds for 12 bottles. This is one of my lowest priced recommendation so its a chance for everyone to get involved. I do not expect this to be around for long.

Please let us know how many cases would you like to add to your wine portfolio.
