December 2016 Wine Investment Report

This month showed another increase in the fine wine market. Data from the London Vintners Exchange Index showed strong performance for the month of November. Our valuations also showed a positive increase in line with the index results.

Bordeaux wines showed an increase of 0.89% in December versus November and a decrease of 2.20% for Rhone Valley and Champagne. Some pull back was expected in November considering the large upswing in the previous months valuations.

The outlook for the fine wine investment market remains bullish and upbeat for 2017. We do not see signs of a slowing in this market and good quantity of Bordeaux wines are becoming ever increasingly difficult to source.

54% of the wines valued showed a positive return, while 26% showed a negative and 20% remained the same. 81% are made up of Bordeaux while 19% are made up of Champagne and Rhone Valley.

The overall gain for ALL the wines valued this month was an increase of 0.60% – See below those winners and losers for December versus November.
