It is a privilege to live in London. We Londoners have so many vinous and gastronomic delights on our doorstep. But when I first moved to London 20 years ago from my native France it was a different story. If you wanted a nice glass of wine with great food, your only option was a formal dining restaurant with starched tablecloths and snooty waiters. Don’t get me wrong, some were great and many continue to set the culinary standard, but these were places to blow your bank balance in a single sitting.
