January 2017 Wine Investment Report

January 2017 Wine Investment Report

December month was positive for both Bordeaux and other regions of the wine market. December is normally a slower month due to fewer trading days for the holiday season, nevertheless the numbers still proved a positive outcome for the period.

Bordeaux wines showed an increase of 0.72% in January versus December and an increase of 0.32% for Rhone Valley and Champagne.

The start of the year could prove to be fruitful for fine wine investment as global markets hold on in uncertain times due to a general economic global slowdown. U.S markets remain optimistic and China is bullish on their outlook for 2017. The wine market is showing good signals that it is in full recovery from its previous downturn.

35% of the wines valued showed a positive return, while 31% showed a negative and 34% remained the same. 81% are made up of Bordeaux while 19% are made up of Champagne and Rhone Valley.

The overall gain for ALL the wines valued this month was an increase of 0.69% – See below those winners and losers for January versus December.
