February 2017 Wine Investment Report

February 2017 Wine Investment Report

Another gain for the fine wine market this month, the London Vintners exchange reported a 1.25% gain for the index in January.

Our valuations are a little more conservative yet still a gain overall for our wines valued. Bordeaux wines showed an increase of 0.2% and an increase of 0.7% for Rhone Valley and Champagne. Good to see the Rhone Valley and Champagne market beating Bordeaux for a change. A welcomed boost of enthusiasm for Champagne and Rhone Valley.

We still have our eyes on Bordeaux as this months lesser than aggressive growth only presents further opportunity to move on the latest and best vintages before prices escalate out of control like they did back in 2009.

36% of the wines valued showed a positive return, while 18% showed a negative and 45% remained the same. 82% are made up of Bordeaux while 18% are made up of Champagne and Rhone Valley.

The overall gain for ALL the wines valued this month was an increase of 0.24% – See below those winners and losers for February versus January.
